On August 18, 2005 the Grand Prairie ISD adopted a resolution declaring the 2005/2006 school year as "Read Across the Prairie" to encourage the community to read for fun. During the 2005/2006 school year, any student, teacher, or staff who signs a pledge to read for fun at least 30 minutes a week received a wristband to remind them to read. For the 2006/2007 school year, all staff and students who pledge to read for fun received a dog tag with the "Read Across the Prairie" logo. This year students received a discount card to a variety of businesses when they pledged to read. Please contact the library for more information.
